That same year, Canadian father-of-two Paul Fitzpatrick took his life after enduring over two decades of chronic eye pain following Lasik.
In his suicide note, he wrote, “Pain, pain and more pain, please forgive me for not being strong enough to cope.”
Patient advocate Paula Cofer, who underwent Lasik in 2000, says she suffered suicidal ideation for two years after her surgery.
