FDA and Industry Response
The FDA acknowledges risks on its website, including chronic dry eyes, glare, halos, and even permanent vision loss.
However, the American Refractive Surgery Council maintains that Lasik is “one of the most studied elective surgical procedures available today,” citing a rate of sight-threatening complications “well below one percent.”
