“The river is where the accident occurred. According to a guy on the recording, “The plane and the helicopter both crashed in the river.”
“It was most likely out in the river’s center. I just seen a fireball, and then it vanished. Since they struck the water, I haven’t seen anything.
“But it was a CR-J [the type of plane] and a helicopter that hit, I would say a half-mile of the approach.”
How is the rescue effort progressing? John Donnelly, the chief of DC Fire and EMS, said during a news conference that his team.
“don’t know” whether they will discover anybody alive. He continued by explaining that the rescue effort was becoming more difficult due to the weather.
“The wind is blowing. The water contains ice fragments. You are out there looking in every available square inch of area because there isn’t much light,” he added.
