When a seven-year-old kid fell on his brain while playing, brave doctors in India removed a nail that was more than three inches long.
The small child, who is now unidentified and from the Nawazpur area of Balrampur, was playing peacefully on May 15 when he stumbled on an exposed nail, which subsequently got into his neck. This was a rare accidental event.
Unaware of the unfathomable length of the nail, his terrified parents hurried him to a neighboring hospital right once. Later, he was hospitalized to a trauma center in Lucknow.
After MRI and CT scans were performed to determine the precise size and location of the metal fragment, trauma specialists were appalled to see that the little boy’s brain was being punctured by the point of a massive 8cm nail.
To remove the major hole, the boy had a hard 10-hour ‘very complex surgery’ the next day. Doctors worked diligently to ensure that the procedure would not damage his brain.
