The eight-year-old child is recovering miraculously after being struck in the head by a baseball bat during a home invasion in which his mother was abducted and subsequently discovered dead.
On the evening of April 17, 45-year-old Thi Kim Tram was robbed of her clothing and coerced into the rear of a vehicle at gunpoint outside her residence in Bankstown, southwest Sydney.
Later, in the neighboring suburb of Beverly Hills, her remains were discovered in a burned-out vehicle.
Police are also looking into whether Ms. Tran’s husband’s claimed ties to a major Victorian organized crime group are the reason behind the attack.
On their way out the door, the five-member gang that tore Ms. Tran from her house also beat her youngest son with a baseball bat.
