Police at the time stated that the eight-year-old was expected to experience bodily “complications” for the remainder of his life after he was placed in an induced coma for a few days until last week.
The youngster is, however, recovering against all predictions and is “a lot better than his initial prognosis,” according to police sources close to the case who spoke to the Daily Telegraph.
Alongside his 15-year-old brother, who saw the attacks and is receiving treatment for psychological stress, the eight-year-old is anticipated to remain in the hospital for a few more weeks.
“By targeting innocent women and children, these organized crime groups are violating their own code of conduct,” he said.
