The major shift occurred during the 1912 Olympic Games. A new swimsuit design was immediately required when swimming was included as one of the competitive sports.
The athletes may not perform well because of the large gowns and trousers. The new swimsuits, which exposed more of the arms and legs, were initially worn by female athletes.
3. 1930s-era swimwear
Women adored the trend of tanned skin that emerged during this time. Though women utilized more accessories and colors, swimwear didn’t alter all that much. Men were still not permitted to show off their hairy chests and wear short pants, we must admit.
4. 1940s-era swimwear
Even swimwear was affected by the World War. They lacked the luxury to buy clothing with so much fabric.
