Jordan made three calls right after the incident, but none of them were to 911 or other emergency services.
Officials claim that Melissa received one of the calls asking her to confess to the unimaginable crime.
Jordan and Melissa had a fight that day, Melissa later told officials, and he left her house with Caroline. He instructed her to “get ready, get ready” when she got to his house later that evening.
According to investigators, she rushed inside at that point and found her daughter dead. Investigators spoke with Michelle Merriott, Melissa’s sister, a day later.
It was alleged that she was speaking on the phone with Melissa when she got to Jordan’s apartment. Along with her husband, Todd Merriott, her sister also hurried to the scene.
According to court documents, she told officers that she heard Jordan telling Melissa, “We got to get our stories straight,” while she was on the scene.
