Argentine Police Officer Promoted After Breastfeeding Hungry Baby in Hospital

In a moving display of compassion, a police officer in Argentina has been promoted after a photo of her breastfeeding a hungry infant at a children’s hospital went viral, capturing hearts around the world.

Celeste Jaqueline Ayala, an officer with the Buenos Aires police, was on duty at Sor Maria Ludovica Children’s Hospital.

When she heard the cries of a distressed infant who had recently been taken into custody. Acting on instinct, she followed the sound and discovered a baby boy showing clear signs of hunger.

“He was putting his hand into his mouth. I could tell he was hungry,” Ayala recalled.

Despite being told by hospital staff that the baby was “dirty and smelly,” Ayala was undeterred.
