Following her son’s drowning death, a 30-year-old mother from Arkansas has entered a plea of guilty.
Ashley Rolland was sentenced to 40 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to two counts of permitting abuse of a minor on August 8. In 2022,
her boyfriend fatally drowned her 5-year-old son in a toilet as punishment and injured her 6-year-old daughter, according to a release from the State Police.
Lee County deputies responded to a residence on Front Street in December 2022, where Rolland brought her daughter out, according to an affidavit (via NBC).
The child’s cranium was evidently injured, as it had scabbed over. The mother insisted that her son, Blu Rolland, was not present at the residence.
The daughter was transported to Forrest City Hospital, where the personnel determined that she had sustained severe burns.
