To address juvenile occurrences via behavioral and mental health channels, BCSO stressed that the decision to not arrest the boys was made.

Members of the department’s mental health section are actively collaborating with the boys’ families and “providing every recourse possible to assist the children involved,”

A BCSO sergeant told Fox News Digital. The agency also commended drone technology for helping to resolve the issue without resorting to lethal force.

In their statement, BCSO added, “Our drone enabled deputies to quickly and safely secure the area, ultimately preventing a potentially deadly force encounter with the juveniles.”

In situations involving kids and weapons, the new program, which was announced with the video, combines behavioral health treatment with law enforcement intervention to close service gaps.
