At the time of his demise, Perry had been sober for 19 months, and there were no known substance misuse relapses since that time,

NBC, the studio responsible for Friends, issued a statement last year confirming the tragic passing of the actor. The statement read, “We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry.”
“His wry wit and pitch-perfect comedic timing brought immense joy to hundreds of millions of individuals worldwide.” His legacy will endure for countless generations.
His co-stars also issued a devastating statement, which read: “We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew.” We were not merely castmates. We are a family.
“There is a plethora of things to say; however, we will pause to mourn and process this incomprehensible loss at this time.”
