Arsonists set fire to Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro’s official house as he and his family were sleeping inside.

It’s unclear whether Shapiro was the subject of hate speech because of his religious or political beliefs. Shapiro, who has four kids with his wife Lori, wrote about the shocking event on X.

After an arsonist set fire to the Governor’s Residence in Harrisburg last night at about two in the morning, my family and I awoke to the Pennsylvania State Police banging on the door.

We were safely evacuated from the residence by Pennsylvania State Police with assistance from Capitol Police as the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire worked to extinguish the fire.

Thank God the fire was put out and no one was hurt. We support law officers and first responders every day as they bravely rush into danger.

To keep our communities safe. They did this for our family last night, and Lori and I will always be appreciative of what they did to protect us.
