Obie attempted to contact Kobe again a few minutes after the conversation ended, but he didn’t pick up. The family became aware that anything was amiss at that point.

Only later that day did one of Kobe’s brothers succeed in getting to her house. He had to contend with downed power lines and fallen trees strewn all over the roadways.
When he got there, he discovered something too heartbreaking to describe. Just where Kobe had taken refuge with her boys, a big tree had smashed through the top of her trailer.
