As soon as you say “hello” to the flight attendant, they will demonstrate how crucial your response is.

Iona Iachim, a flight attendant with Wizz Air, recently went on TikTok to talk about it, saying that when passengers

boarded the aircraft, the hostesses’ job was “to check whether or not you are too drunk or sick to fly”—not just to be kind.

A coworker of mine who works for the low-cost Hungarian airline corroborated these statements. Another member of

the cabin crew captioned a video of Rania giving an announcement while in flight with the following: “Did you know that your flight attendant greets you not only out of politeness?”

Rania surprised everyone by saying that they want to know whether you’re too inebriated or unwell to fly as their welcome.

For the sake of “evacuating the aircraft,” flight attendants are allegedly on the lookout for “able-bodied passengers,” or ABPs.
