Declaring it “Liberation Day,” Trump unveiled a broad package of tariffs on April 2.
With substantially higher rates for 60 nations classified as “worst offenders,” the new rule levies a 10% duty on all imports.
Among them are China at 34%, South Africa at 30%, Vietnam at 46%, and Japan at 24%, thereby bringing the rate to 54%.
Trump declared: “We have been waiting for some time.
“April 2, 2025, will always be remembered as the day American industry was reborn, the day America’s destiny was reclaimed, and the day we started to ‘Make America Wealthy Again’.”
“For decades our nation has been looted, pillagged, r*ped and plundered by nations, near and far, from both friend and enemy alike.”
