Who passed away Thursday at the age of 95, personified figure skating for millions of Americans. Button, the first American to win an Olympic gold medal.

In the sport in 1948 and again in 1952, captivated the country and led us all into the often mysterious and always spectacular world of spins and leaps, slips and falls, kisses and tears.

Using an on-air statement, Button praised the stars. He had to say that a triple leap was nice. Fans joined him in crying as he broke down in tears.
