At the age of 91, the UK’s oldest drag queen, a “trailblazer” for the LGBTQ+ community, passes away.

I traveled from Swansea to perform as a guest vocalist in drag queen shows, which were then well-known.

I first saw Maisie on the circuit, and I used to see her at various locations in London before I began performing my own drag shows.

David’s maisie was very helpful and giving. I would be asked to sing and then given microphone technique advice.

“Maisie/David always congratulated me on being true to who I was and what I could do,” which I hope meant being funny and singing well, when I (about 6 years later) ventured into becoming CC Swan (and any time our paths crossed beyond that).

“Back when everything went and everyone knew Maisie’s B&B’s name and phone number, I loved going to her show.” This loss to the community is truly tragic. Rest in peace, lovely person.
