The key is to treat each transaction as distinct, for example, if a guy purchases a horse for $60, sells it for $70, buys it again for $80, and then sells it again for $90.
10 is equal to -60 + 70 + 80 + 90. The man’s profit totals $20 since he earned $10 on each transaction.
