Laura O’Malley, then 13 years old, left her Queens, New York, home one calm evening in 1975 for what was ostensibly a quick stroll.
However, she never returned. As her parents called neighbors, summoned the police, and searched the streets, panic swiftly grew.
Hope dwindled as the days stretched into years. The phone did not ring. Until recently, the mystery had remained unresolved.
California Finds Human Remains Stay Unknown
Human remains were found in 1995, twenty years later, in a secluded riverbank close to Watsonville, California. Nobody connected the dots to Laura O’Malley at the time.
The case fell cold once more, this time in a different state, and the remains were never identified.
