According to a recent survey, a number of baby boomers and members of the Silent Generation are altering their allegiances from former President Donald Trump to Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Emerson College poll, which was published on Thursday, indicates that electors over the age of 70 are 51 percent in favor of Harris and 48 percent in favor of Trump.
This is a minor but positive change for Harris, as last month, 50% of the group supported Trump, while 48% supported President Joe Biden, who withdrew from the race and endorsed Harris.
The Silent Generation, born between 1925 and 1945, and a few baby boomers, born between 1946 and 1964, comprise the group.
This cycle, older voters have consistently supported Trump, adhering to a long-standing tradition of senior support for the Republican Party. All presidential elections since 2000 have been won by the party among voters over the age of 65.
According to Newsweek, approximately 52% of voters in that age group supported Trump in 2020. However, this trend may be evolving at this time.
