Before escaping into Kentucky, an Indiana suspect pulls a “sword” on an officer and takes a cruiser, according to police.

(WFIE/CNN/CNN Newsource/WKRC) EVANSVILLE, IN Before stealing a police car and escaping into Kentucky, an Indiana citizen is accused of pulling what looked like a sword on an officer.

Many people are shocked by the spectacular police pursuit that started in southeastern Indiana and finished in Kentucky on Monday.

Officers attempted a traffic stop near Chandler, north of Evansville, which sparked the incident. Officers approached the suspect, Nina Devillez, 31, and when they did, bullets were fired.

A fast-paced pursuit ensued when Devillez seized a police vehicle. WFIE reporters were given a description of the situation by witness Brian Richardson.

“We heard sirens and then they headed down towards Evansville and then we heard tires screeching and the sirens come back and then we see a silver car go across the road,” Richardson said to the station.
