Before phoning the police, the Texas gun owner went to bed after fatally shooting a burglar.

According to police documents, he claimed to have seen a man attempting to enter his storage shed with a pickaxe while looking out a window.

Meyer grabbed a revolver and walked outside after hearing the commotion and noticing what looked like a break-in at his shed.

According to an arrest request affidavit, Meyer allegedly chambered a round before going outside and yelled at the man, telling him to cease what he was doing and not to approach him or he would shoot.

Meyer fired a shot after the invader allegedly took several steps toward him with the pickaxe, but the burglar apparently didn’t listen.

The man dropped his pickaxe at the single shot and ran away. Meyer told police that he fired another shot, this time “into the night,” as he fled toward a neighboring park.
