Meyer stated he wasn’t sure if he had stuck the individual, despite the fact that he had fired at him. Meyer told authorities he went back to bed rather than finding out.
Meyer claimed that as the sun rose a few hours later, he noticed “a black bag” in the park.
When he looked more closely, he saw that the “bag” was actually a person laying on the ground, face down.
At 7:04 a.m., two hours after the shooting, police were sent to Meyer’s house after receiving a 911 call about a home invasion. In the park behind Meyer’s house, officers found the suspect’s body, face down.
Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel concluded that the suspect had been dead for some time after observing that the blood on the body was dry.
