Local TV station Globo, which cited unnamed individuals from the investigation on Wednesday (14 August), reported
that both the pilot and copilot observed a significant decrease in altitude just one minute prior to the accident, as indicated by the transcript.
According to reports, copilot Humberto de Campos Alencar e Silva inquired of pilot Danilo Santos Romano, “What is happening?” during the two-hour recording.
Silva is also purported to have stated that the aircraft required “more power” to stabilize. In response to the crash, Brazilian President Luiz
Inácio Lula da Silva addressed the audience in a video broadcast on CNN, stating, “I would like everyone to stand up so that we can observe a minute of silence.
A plane has just crashed in the city of Vinhedo, in São Paulo, with 58 passengers and four crew members, and it appears that they all perished.”
