I haven’t seen anything like. I had no idea, therefore the only thing I could surmise was that it was struck by a bird or that the main rotor blades collapsed. I don’t know. I’m not sure.
“A ‘catastrophic mechanical failure’ left the pilot with no chance to save the helicopter,” said aviation lawyer Justin Green, a former Marine Corps helicopter pilot.
The primary rotors of the helicopter could have collided with the tail boom, shattering it and sending the cabin plummeting to the ground, Green added. “As soon as whatever happened, they were dead,” Green said.
They don’t seem to have had any authority over the vessel. Once they lost the lifts, no pilot could have stopped that disaster. It like a rock hitting the earth. It’s devastating.
