Tributes are pouring in for Georgia O’Connor, a rising star in British boxing, who has tragically died at just 25 years old—less than four months after being diagnosed with cancer.
O’Connor, a three-time undefeated professional boxer and decorated amateur, claimed doctors ignored her symptoms for months, despite her high-risk medical history.
A Promising Career Cut Short
Georgia O’Connor, from Durham, England, was a former Team GB amateur who won gold at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games.
Along with five national and Commonwealth championships and two medals at the World and European levels.
She turned professional in 2021, winning three consecutive fights—against Ester Konecna, Erica Juana Gabriela Alvarez, and Joyce Van Ee—before her career was halted by illness.
