Boy 13 years old dies in Chester County school bus accident

CHESTER County, S.C. (WIS) – The Chester County Coroner’s Office verified that a 13-year-old youngster perished in a Thursday afternoon school bus collision.

The coroner said the lad attended Pine Ridge Middle School and was in eighth grade. The coroner named that 13-year-old Jose Maria Gonzales Linares.

Three buses returning from a field trip in Charlotte were involved in the Thursday afternoon incident on I-77 South in Chester County. Pine Ridge Middle School students were riding on these vehicles.

One of the buses had a tire blow, according to Lexington County School District Two, which sent the bus running off the right side of the road and into a railing.

Not involved in the collision were the two other school buses. The district said the overturned bus carried two adults and around thirty-five youngsters.

On Thursday, Lancaster EMS informed WIS News 10’s sister station, WBTV, that eleven individuals were rushed to the hospital—five of them were in severe condition.
