Out of the almost 70 athletes that participated in Montgomery, Evy Leibfarth, 20, of Bryson City, North Carolina, was the only one to earn an Olympic place in the women’s canoe slalom.
She also had the quickest time in both the kayak and canoe slalom competitions. In two weeks, the remaining Team USA berths will be decided in Oklahoma City.
“I’ve had an incredible weekend. I’m rather pleased with the racing I did this past weekend. All in all, it has been wonderful, touching, and a lot of fun.
After placing outside the top 10 in two events in Tokyo in 2020, Leibfarth, who will be participating in her second Olympics, remarked.
“I’m really excited to make that a reality because it’s been a dream of mine to visit Paris for a very long time,” Leibfarth said. Increasing the city’s prominence in sports
Local officials are hoping that an Olympic-approved event like this would boost Montgomery’s economy and establish the city as a destination for sports tourists.
