British Mum Claims Son Was ‘Set Up’ After Cocaine Found in Passport at Thai Airport

“If that’s the case, then Heathrow and Dubai didn’t do their job. But I believe it was planted,” she added. “Less than a gram — it was ridiculous. Just enough, as our solicitor said, to get money out of you.”

After his arrest, Jamie Swain spent two days in a local holding cell before being released on bail. His mother immediately flew to Thailand to support him.

“He was handcuffed in a cell with a Russian man. No food, no water. Just awful,” she recalled. “Then he had to remain in Phuket for months awaiting his court date.”

After sentencing, Swain was transferred to a prison in Bangkok for deportation processing. According to his mother, the conditions there were grim and intimidating.

“He said there were fights, and inmates warned him he might not get out,” she said. “He was just on a mat in a crowded cell. It was terrifying.”
