The alleged remark has spurred heated debate across sports media.
With some critics accusing Griner of inappropriate conduct and others questioning whether there will be equal accountability for racially charged comments made within the league.
Former NCAA swimmer and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines was among the first public figures to weigh in, tweeting, “Imagine if Clark had said the inverse.”

Earlier in the game, Clark had a separate verbal exchange with Atlanta Dream guard Rhyne Howard.
