According to Fritz Fragé, the director of public safety for Newark, officers responded to a report of a violent confrontation on Friday and went to Broad and Lafayette streets.
According to reports, the violent outburst was caused by the adult male passenger hawking a gob on the bus driver
after a verbal altercation. Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody. The event is still being looked into,
but the bus driver and the passenger are presently both facing separate counts of aggravated assault. Stay tuned for additional updates, as we’re sure there will be more.
