Her comments were swiftly denounced by LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations as offensive and contemptuous of the difficulties encountered by transgender athletes.

The spokeswoman for a well-known LGBTQ+ rights group, Alex Johnson, said that J.K. Rowling’s remarks are dangerous in addition to being cruel.
