Celine Dion’s daily battles to be physically strong enough to open the Olympics: The debilitating and incurable Stiff Person Syndrome, which Star described as “feeling like someone is strangling you,” required Star to undergo excruciating treatment.

Years of arduous labor followed that idyllic start. She made her television debut in Canada in 1981, and in 1982 she won first place at the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo.

In the same year, she had an appearance on the famous French TV program Champs-Élysées, when her name was announced: “Remember her name: Celine Dion” by the presenter after she sang.

By the time she represented Switzerland in the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with the French entry.

“Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi,” she had already achieved international stardom because to her soaring power ballads.
