If Sergei hadn’t used the baton to prevent Donut’s jaws from slamming down on him, things may have become much worse.
As a seasoned professional, Sergei carried on with the performance as if nothing had happened, ending Donut’s act before things became worse.
The chairman of the Moretti Circus, Nikita Mikhailov, praised Sergei for his handling of the issue and noted that the remainder of the performance went on without any further incidents.
“This animal can behave differently, they may not like something, and they can express their emotions in this way,” Nikita said. Every trainer is aware of this.
Naturally, animal rights groups have taken notice of the incident and used it as further justification for the global prohibition of live animal performances.
