Authorities believe he targeted children in orphanages and care centers, and even developed a point-based system to document his actions.
He was apprehended by the UK’s National Crime Agency after returning home for the holidays. During the investigation, he reportedly confessed to his parents, who then contacted the police.
The arrest came after a tip-off from Australian authorities during an investigation into a dark web forum involving child exploitation.
The site reportedly had over 9,000 members before it was shut down. The inmate accused of causing Huckle’s death was identified as Paul Fitzgerald, a 29-year-old from Northern Ireland.
