Justice Neglected, but Not Ignored
The legal ground now moves into civil litigation while the criminal trial is indefinitely postponed.
Attorneys for multiple victims are suing the man’s estate and any organizations that might have unintentionally supported his activities by carelessness or oversight.
“Just because he’s dead does not mean the case is closed,” said lawyer Mark Redfield. “There still is a paper trail. Still a lot of unresolved issues. Still, responsibility is something to have.
But proving responsibility in civil court gets more difficult without a criminal conviction. Now survivors fight for the validity of their suffering as much as for acceptance.
