Cynthia Erivo has responded to the criticism she faced after describing a Wicked poster that was amended by a fan as the “most offensive thing she had ever seen.”
As you are likely aware, the official poster for Wicked, a highly anticipated film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, was recently released.
The poster depicts Erivo’s character gazing directly at the camera while Grande’s Glinda murmurs in her ear.
Fans observed some differences in the artwork, including a subtle grimace, a vibrant red lip, and Erivo’s eyes being partially obscured by her headwear, despite the close resemblance to the original Broadway musical.
A fan-made version emerged online shortly thereafter, with the image modified to more closely resemble the stage version.
