Maggie Smith, Daniel Radcliffe’s co-star in Harry Potter, passed away today at the age of 89. In addition to her ten years as Radcliffe’s
co-star in Professor McGonagall, the actress was also well-known for her parts in Sister Act and Downton Abbey.
Before costarring in Harry Potter, Radcliffe and Smith collaborated on David Copperfield in 1999 when the actor was only 9 years old.
The Kill Your Darlings star said in 2017 that Smith had suggested him for the part of the young wizard.
According to his remark on Variety, “I was reading scenes for David Copperfield when I first met Maggie Smith when I was nine years old. That was my first job.”
