When Wilson came to get Dakota, however, the neighbor saw no obvious injuries. Hayden Hetzel, Dakota’s previous foster father, spoke with WGN News,
explaining that the youngster had trouble controlling his emotions at times but that he had learned how to physically calm him down in a safe way.
“He was just a kid given a bad hand, but he made the best of every situation,” said Hetzel. Wilson lost her ability to care for children when Dakota passed away; her foster care license was withdrawn.
On July 13, she was taken into custody in Berrien County, Michigan, after the issuance of an arrest warrant in Indiana.
