Three days before to the incident, on April 1, Gabriel had celebrated his ninth birthday. He shared a home with his widowed mother, Racheal Tibbs Andrews.

The local community and school were shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. Kasey Swails, Gabriel’s teacher, said on social media,
