Amid the legal firestorm, Cole and his wife Susan Cole filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2023, listing $13.6 million in debts and just $37,000 in assets.
At that time, four patients had filed lawsuits. Since then, at least six more have come forward.
Questions Around Credentials
Although Dr. Cole promotes himself as “the eye guy,” he is not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the widely recognized gold standard in the field.
He is, however, certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Laser Surgery, and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
As lawsuits continue to emerge, the women speaking out say they’re not only seeking justice—but also trying to protect others.
“We trusted him,” said Dunham. “And now we have to live with the consequences.”
