Dan Simmonds, who serves as the Zoological Operations Manager at London Zoo, remarked that gorillas are generally known for their gentle nature and reserved behavior.
He noted that the zoo’s troop of critically endangered western lowland gorillas, much like others in their species, are distinguished by their individual personalities.
Simmonds elaborated further, pointing out that all four subspecies of gorillas typically spend the majority of their day engaged in searching for food and nurturing social bonds within their family groups.
Highly intelligent by nature, gorillas are not inclined toward unnecessary aggression, he explained. They tend to conserve their energy and avoid conflict unless they feel provoked or perceive a direct threat to the well-being of their group.
