It stands in sharp contrast to Ellen’s and her wife Portia de Rossi’s opulent Montecito home, which was the pinnacle of Californian luxury with its contemporary architecture, infinity pools, and views of the ocean.
In and of itself, selling the Montecito house was a daring move. The close-knit celebrity community, which also houses Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle, has Ellen and Portia as regulars.
Their more than $40 million mansion served as a symbol of their position as a power couple in Hollywood.
