Swisher brought out the fact that Musk has often been “cosplaying” as Downey Jr.’s well-known Marvel character, who debuted in a film in 2008.
Although Tony Stark is obviously based on the Marvel Comics world, it’s noteworthy to note that Iron Man director Jon Favreau said in a 2016 interview that Musk did, in fact, serve as inspiration for some of Tony Stark’s traits.
Despite Iron Man being “based on the comic book,” Favreau clarified on the Recode Decode podcast that Musk and Downey Jr. spent time together in order to prepare for the part.
This made it easier to comprehend what life as Tony Stark may really be like. In addition to having an impact on the character,
Favreau said that Musk permitted the filming of Iron Man 2 sequences at SpaceX, referring to him as a “very good friend of the Marvel family” at the time.
