The story took an unexpected turn when Stewart claimed to have seen another tweet from Musk in which he seemed to back down from the notion of making an appearance and stated:
“Jon is too set in his ways.” He was more nonpartisan once. Stewart was obviously shaken by this and went on to say:
“The man who built his own Dark MAGA hat, which he wears to voice his opinions in the Oval Office beside the president he spent $270 million to support, believes that I’m just too biased.
“Observe, Elon. I do have a few things to say regarding DOGE. Great if you would want to be on the program and discuss it. Sure, if you don’t want to.
“However, can we just stop acting like you won’t do it because I don’t meet the neutral discourse standards you need and uphold at all times? Because that’s bullsh*t, to be honest.”
“You know it,” he said concisely in closing. I am aware of that. Bullsh*t. It seems like it would be a memorable episode of The Daily Show if Musk and Stewart can work out their disagreements.
