NASA intends to formally decommission the International Space Station by 2030. An era in space exploration will come to an end when the ISS is decommissioned, deorbited, and destroyed after 20 years of circling the planet.
However, Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of Tesla, wants this completed sooner since he thinks the ISS is no longer needed.
Musk said on X: “Now is the time to start getting ready to deorbit the Space_Station.” It has fulfilled its function.
“My recommendation is as soon as possible,” he said in response to a remark on the post. I suggest two years from now.
There is no way to leave the ISS hanging in space. The US space agency gave SpaceX a $1 billion (£778 million) contract. I
n June of last year to assist with the safe destruction of the ISS. However, how precisely will it be possible to pull down the biggest object ever built in orbit?
