Many San Franciscans view the statue as another instance of the city misinterpreting the situation, while others view it as empowering.
After influencer Collin Rugg’s video of a cherry picker being uncomfortably lifted between the statue’s legs during installation went viral, social media was ablaze. Commentators were having a field day in no time.
“Nothing says ‘reviving downtown’ like a 45-foot naked lady getting rear-end surgery,” a user commented. “This picture kind of embodies the spirit of San Francisco — head up a–,” said another deadpan.
The statue was placed a few blocks away from places where people were openly using drugs, boarded-up stores, and homeless people.
