Electoral college voting starts on December 17. On the first Tuesday after the second Wednesday in December, state electors convene to choose the president and vice president.
The number of members each state elects to the Electoral College is determined by the size of its population and the number of senators and representatives it has in Congress.
In that state, representatives are pledged to support the candidate with the highest votes. Electoral votes must be received by December 25.
Certificates documenting the results of the electoral vote must be sent to the archivist and the senate president by no later than the fourth Wednesday in December,
Which is Christmas Day this year. The newly elected Congress is sworn in on January 3 after receiving the results of each state’s electoral votes.
