A 1,000 foot “mega tsunami” may destroy three areas of the US, experts have cautioned. With their proximity to the danger zone, Alaska, Hawaii, and the West Coast of the US are under risk.
According to research published by the National Academy of Sciences, a catastrophic earthquake might strike the Cascadia subduction zone, which spans Northern Vancouver Island to Cape Mendocino in California.
Rising sea levels paired with an earthquake might cause a “mega tsunami” that would affect residents in northern California, northern Oregon, and southern Washington most especially, experts have said.
They also discovered that the fault line has a 15% risk of producing an earthquake, that might reach a level 8.0 or above in the next 50 years.
